Well... I felt it was very anti-climatic. She tied up all the loose ends. She ended up with who I wanted her to. And I think I was expecting some big, romantic, lost-love moment, but its a middle grade fiction and not teen fiction...love is not that important but I am a sap. Guilty.

Back to tying it all up. Wow does she cover it all from her mother, to Prim, to Gale, to Coin, to Snow, to Finnick, to Haymitch. Everyone. That was satisfying. How often to do you read the end of a series and not get all your answers. I find it to be super frustrating unless there is going to be another...

Spoiler:

DID NOT SEE PEETA HATING KATNISS! All caps shows my shock for those of you who don't know me. I was super afraid he was going to kill her or she him. And calling her a mutt? Ouch.

I think what was missing from this was the Games. Like the intense, battle it out, combat.

Characterization - Katniss I really feel is unfeeling. She's very, i don't know, but she's not as driven by her emotions as most girls are and I think that's why I like her and why I don't understand her either. Does that make sense? Because I am not sure it does.

I feel really torn between satisfied and not. Did anyone else have this problem? Or was I just shooting to high because of the hype?

I thought Haymitch was going to have this glorious moment of bad ass.

Catching Fire by Suzanne Collins

I'm addicted now.

Katniss is awesome in the heat of moment, very resourceful. But when it comes to planning things out, like oh, I don't know...saving your family and friends...she's not so good at it. And, I'm really torn between Gale and Peeta. I would date Peeta. He would be my boyfriend. End of story, however, Gale has such a strong appeal. He's stoic and steady. It's a tough choice, but this girl needs to pick one.

Spoiler: HOLY SHOCKED when they had to go back into the games. Damn you President Snow. I want an "I hate Snow" shirt. One because I live in a snow belt and two, I hate that character. Peeta, brave Peeta, totally going to die for Katniss again.

Spoiler: I knew that HeadGamer guy was up to something the moment he showed her that watch. Mockingjay total symbol. Does anyone know what I could do with the symbolism of that bird in my classroom!?! (*needs to breathe before I pass out*) Haymitch - really you planned this whole behind your back uprising and you didn't tell either one of those two kids? Does anyone feel that they could have been total assets and maybe my boyfriend Peeta would not be in the clutches of the capitol?

Collins has done a great job, again, with making me want to read more. I have no idea how you people who read the book and then had to wait, did it. Collins really has a plot line driven by action, which for me are the best.

I did it... I finished Hunger Games - this will contain spoilers and I feel comfortable with this because, well I am the last person on earth to have read it! (slight hyperbole)

Synopsis from goodread - In the ruins of a place once known as North America lies the nation of Panem, a shining Capitol surrounded by twelve outlying districts. The Capitol is harsh and cruel and keeps the districts in line by forcing them all to send one boy and one girl between the ages of twelve and eighteen to participate in the annual Hunger Games, a fight to the death on live TV.

Sixteen-year-old Katniss Everdeen, who lives alone with her mother and younger sister, regards it as a death sentence when she steps forward to take her sister's place in the Games. But Katniss has been close to dead before—and survival, for her, is second nature. Without really meaning to, she becomes a contender. But if she is to win, she will have to start making choices that will weigh survival against humanity and life against love

Obviously I knew Katniss was going to go into the Hunger Games, but I did not expect Prim to be called and when Katniss volunteered for her sister - basically to die - she forever endeared herself to me. She's a very selfless character. Though for someone who had been taking care of her family and been around Gale, I found her very naive to those around her (not the tributes - but Effie, Haymitch, Ceasar, the head people)

The Game itself - eesh is that intense - like when Thresh bashes Cloves head in with a rock or Rue getting a spear through the chest, or Cato being eaten and maimed. - again. HOLY INTENSE.

Peeta - oh sweet Peeta. I did think when he announced he loved Katniss that it was a plot, but when he saved her? and teased her? and can we talk about how heartbroken he was the last two pages of the book. I am so pissed at Katniss. Really? She better get her act together.

I like the world and am hoping to learn about all the districts, individually

Did you know they want to start banning this book in school because of the mention of suicide?
